ABOUT THE SITE UPDATE AND MORE

August 22th, 2025

Backstory

There's a chance that if you are reading this the same day I published this, its because I've done enough progress on the new theme [which currently is still set to a test folder] and saw this blog entry pop up on my Neocities profile. If you're reading this AFTER that fact...then feel free to see this as a piece of memory from when this overhaul was being built on, which is likely since I still have to properly setup the landing page to have a way into getting here.

For a good while, I had been using a ribozone theme that nailed the old-school website feeling visually, and was quite fun to mess around for months as the successor of the original theme being one made with SADGRL's layout editor.

As I had been away from the PC the last few weeks though, I had been using the phone way more than usual...and thought about how some stuff was harder to maintain as-is than if I tried to just overhaul it from scratch, mainly not just for visibility on mobile screens, but also due to having a few too many htmls for what could be stuff maintained in a single HTML file. Basically, I had got carried away by ambition [and for those first months it wa cool] and accidentally ended up setting up a precedent for making stuff more cumbersome for me to update, and maybe even a bit cumbersome for anyone else to navigate through all the pages just to find certain things.

...And on the note of readability on mobile devices [or else], I definitely felt like I wanted to try a new theme that allowed for far better readability on long paragraphs of text to be able to write to my heart's content once again - you know, like you may expect to read on future blog entries here [or even this one...I may have to run a word counter when I'm done writing this just to see how much I typed in lmaooo].

All in all, blog entries should supersede any previous changelog pages and ideas I've had, as well as be home of talking about other type of stuff that isn't just shouting out games on the Game Log- err...I mean, the Memory Card, and so on, so forth. With that said, time to explain what are the changes that this new theme will bring.

The Changes

While currently [as of writing this] I'd have to sacrifice the Daytona USA 2 header image for the website, the new theme here at least scales far better in small and large screens, and with the chance of a new canvas, I'm finally streamlining better the subpages that categorize the stuff I've made.

And yes, the site at the moment is renamed ArcadeStriker's Website and Stuff - since I haven't been on the same high fever of making Ring Racers stuff I was when I did the first website overhaul [but ArcadeStriker's RingNET name will be fondly remembered...and I'll likely dedicate something to it whenever I talk about older versions of this site or whenever I do a Ring Racers shrine of sorts].

After being left in a state of disrepair for a while between theme changes and such, the Blog is finally having a dedicated page once again - as you may have noticed if you're reading this. I've linked most of the stuff I wrote on Wordpress on this new blog area for those looking to read some of my older stuff [a few of which are still quite big], but the biggest benefit of the new theme and area is that I can now work on more on-site reads like this as much as I want. No more fiddling with the few free themes or advertisements Wordpress has if you don't have an adblocker installed.

What used to be Striker's Stuff in the previous theme has now been consolidated in the Projects and Art subpage. The Art area will be a subpage inside it and is something I yet have to properly start as of writing this, buuuuut the rest has been either on the works to be placed there [Kart and Ring Racers mods, video stuff] or have already been succesfully migrated in their entirety to this new subpage [My MUGEN lifebars and custom F-Zero X tracks]. This is obviously something that will keep expanding with more stuff later on.

The Memory Card is basically the Game Log 3.0 - a merging of the original idea of text entries with the organization of the second version [I'm also reusing the icons for each game's entry to compensate for the new index list being text only]. For a change of pace, I'll also be trying to make all my entries in this place far more compact in their descriptions, leaving room for way more expansive reads for whenever I decide to make bigger writeups dedicated to those specific games.

And if you didn't see it already, the starting page may not have the integrated audio player anymore [I have to figure out why did that break], but I could instead repurpose the webdeck player addition I was previously testing as the bespoke music player - looks stylish [even though it breaks mobile formatting...] and plays some RRT4 20th Anniversary tunes as you enter the website. Someday I'll restore the dancing Diddy Kong gif with that Work It Out Red Raw Mix from my earliest website version for another page as well.

Anything else to add?

Well, about the website changes, that's still a work in progress for sure. I'll also likely leave the previous version accessible at the moment through an alternate link but I have to start cleaning up any pages with content that has already been moved to the new site [and/or have it point to the new versions].

That aside, Mayo and Eldog had given me quite the helpful hand in figuring out some tweaks for a Ring Racers custom track that I had started working on a month ago or so but was stuck on the drafts...more on that when it's done :]

Oh, and I also tried out Yakuza 2 for the PS2. Cool to have faster attacks now - but for now I won't throw it into the Memory Card page yet as I'm just two to three chapters in so far.

Greetings to Wacky Workbench

I saw you liked the update on the profile with the new pages - happy that you gave it a look and liked what you see :]

SEE YOU NEXT TIME...
