My SRB2Kart Medal Ranking

Difficulty and experiences with the Gold Medals of vanila SRB2Kart.

All of these are based off my impressions while aiming for them as Metal Sonic. Can rank them as Easy, Lenient, Standard, Skilled, Expert...and a special rank for special tracks.

THE LIST

Track Rank Description
Green Hills Standard You need to already know well your driftsparks timings to be able to do all turns with MTs to get an advantage, as well as getting both shortcuts each time with the sneakers, but as long as you play well, you can get a fair lead away from the ghost. Took me a few tries.
Dark Race Standard Not a ghost you'll sleep on, but not a ghost that will bother you if you know to take advantage of the sneaker panels and miniturbos. Took me five tries but it isn't a super tight race either if you know what you're doing.
Northern District Skilled Taking the path with the holes is obviously risky but rewarding thanks to the boosters- as long as you don't miss them. You'll want to take it if you want to beat Oni's ghost that uses the shortcut on the other path [unless you also aim for it], but otherwise its down to getting all the MTs you can from drifting in this track, especially in the last set of turns. Took me over 10+ tries maybe.
Darkvile Garden Lenient I had got two mostly well executed laps with the sneaker cuts, but I hit a wall terribly in the third lap...and yet, due to the lead I had got, I still could finish with a gold medal in like two or three tries. Still gonna redo the run to fix it, but yeah, its easy to get a big lead if you are familiar enough with the controls.
Daytona Speedway Standard At first I thought I would rate this Skilled due to my difficulty at beating my own PB, but then I realized that a yellow Sonic ghost that I thought was a staff ghost was actually also one of my own ghosts that didn't even finish the race. Huh. Anyways, while the first shortcut is precise in that you have to dodge all the trees while cutting through offroad, as well as the item grab into getting the sneaker panel before the section near the big end spiral, I still could beat the gold staff ghost in a run where I choked a few moments thanks to the lead you can build if you do at least the first two laps without mistakes and don't make too many after.
Egg Zeppelin Easy If you are a SRB2Kart veteran, you can PLOW through this track as Metal Sonic and finish 10 seconds faster than the staff ghost. This is definitely one track where the statement of several track ghosts being intentionally sandbagged is noticeable. I even tried with Dr. Eggman [Gold Medal's ghost character] and just with one perfect lap, I still couldn't lose the lead even after at least one big mistake in the second and third laps.
Sonic Speedway Easy Getting the right sneaker cuts through offroad in the track is enough to get a big lead on the ghost. HOWEVER, I'd rank this Lenient if you try to beat it as TAILS, who is the character used by the staff ghost. As Tails doesn't get big speed like Metal does in straights, you have to avoid mistakes as much as you can...but if you get creative with where you use the sneakers and get multiple miniturbos in big turns, you can still get a comfortable lead to get the Gold Medal.
Hill Top Easy Another track where consistent drifts and sneakers in the right areas can make for a NASTY frontrun. Even Tails can jump the ghosts by a wide margin if you apply the same miniturbo and sneaker cuts.
Toxic Palace VelocitOni THE SINGLE ANOMALY OF A TRACK WHERE THE GHOST ACTUALLY TRYHARDS TO DEATH. This is one infamous track back in the day where you NEED to be at the top of your level, even if you try to match it with Oni's Tails, to be able to beat it, as he combines both the quick handling from Tails to get many corner grazes while getting every single sneaker panel, so...good luck. STILL UNBEATEN BY ME.
Paradise Hill and Petroleum Refinery are easy
