This is Big Forest, a track from the SEGA arcade game Virtua Racing, originally recreated and released for SRB2Kart all the way back in April 26, 2019 [yep, that was my birthday], then eventually formed part of SRB2Kart ArcadePak v1.3, and made its big return at Ring Racers through the first release of Super Striker GP.

VR Big Forest is a bar for bar recreation of the original track in its layout [and the flat shaded visuals], so that means there are a handful of straight with some banked turns - tethering will be key for this one.

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Whenever you are starting a new lap, you can choose between the Pit Lane for item boxes if you are behind the rest, or take the main road for sneaker panels if you're already ahead.

  • The bridge road may be a bit thin - be careful over there if you see Orbinauts, Bananas and Land Mines thrown around.

  • The final turn has a bit of offroad you can cut through with the right items - but make sure to not try to cut in too early...or else you'll eat the barrier that's inside.

  • DEVELOPMENT

First of all, bug shoutouts to the track designers for the original Arcade game, for obvious reasons.

[THIS IS WIP] I know I had quite a few screenshots from when I was piecing together the track for Kart back then, but I still have to fetch and organize them properly for showcase. But know that the ferris wheel at the end was added in the ArcadePak update, and there was quite some work with updating the track to use the right palette textures when ported to Ring Racers - although otherwise there wasn't that much on the part of updating the track itself when it made the jump to the new game.
