GAME LOG / DECEMBER 2024

Revisiting Broforce and trying Victory Heat Rally

December 21th, 2024

Broforce with a friend, Hard mode is hard as I remember but was fun to go through the first two level sets with him in co-op. I later tried VHR for the first time [the full game] and...huh, that's neat, although I thought I would get something for doing the first three track sets in Arcade GP - but turns out you only unlock the rest through the campaign mode.

I'm home after a week...whoops

December 21th, 2024

Long story short, spent most of this week at my brother's house, having tried a round of coop Super C on the NES with him [we ran out of continues at Stage 3...], playing some Balatro and Kirby Super Star Ultra while being there [as well as having travelled yesterday to another city]...and also being a bit salty with Gran Turismo 1 on the phone being tougher than I expected [I beat Sunday Cup twice but the other B-License events are difficult because you either have an underpowered car or your car is beefy in power but can spin out if you tap the brake a bit too long in a sharp corner].

I also tried Monect [phone app to emulate a controller and steer with tilting] with Daytona USA on my old laptop that was there. Cool stuff.

Maybe last PMEX of the year + long Revolution 3 session

December 14th, 2024

With friends. May detail later.

Ring Racers: All Page 1 Cups S-Ranked in Master Mode

December 13th, 2024

Page 2's left, but that's half of the cups in the entire game done.

Even more WMMT3??

December 12th, 2024

help, why have I played this three days straight [also GATCHAN STOP TALKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN RACEEEE]

More Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3?

December 11th, 2024

More Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3. And on top of having prepared today a text guide on how to setup everything from scratch knowing well how a few of the things I saw are easy to miss if you don't know where to look, this time I'm writing this on my PC, so I can actually embed a gameplay video here :]

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 is fun

December 10th, 2024

Forgot to write this entry before turning off my PC so I dont have much here right now as I'm writing this on the phone...but if you know my Replay Warehouse channel, you can find what I played of it there so far.

Some extremely jank fighting games, some extremely good fighting games

December 8th, 2024

By extremely jank, I refer to Battle Arena Toshinden 1 [and BAT3, which was faster and cooler, but still had some jank feel] in Arcade mode. I also played BAT2 in between but bolted off the game before wanting to go through the whole thing because I tried it right after enduring 40 minutes of BAT1's arcade mode. At least later I got a better refresher through revisting Tekken Dark Resurrection on the PSP with a few Story Mode runs. Damn Jinpachi ruining 1CC attempts even in Normal to this day...

OVER THE RAINBOOOOOOW...in SRB2Kart

December 7th, 2024

Yes, I'm referencing the Eurobeat song [thank you Initial D Arcade Stage 3] - played in three separate servers of SRB2Kart yesterday. First one was for The Honey Pot's...uhh...The Pojilaya Skumbriya tournament. You can look up MizuInTheWater's VOD on Twitch to watch how that went, but if you look at those brackets...you can see I got KO'd at 5th out of 8 in Group C, so I was out in the very first round.

But not only I ended up playing again a few rounds at Sunflower Garden EU, which had some people there, but also got SEVERAL awesome races at mocha / TransCanadaLimited's stream for SRB2Kart, which was full of players. The Tech mod being enabled for fast recovery helped a few times and was super great to be there, even if the server sometimes died to Egg Carrier...anyways, below is the stream where I played. Can't timestamp embeds, so if you want to see when I started racing, that's at 2:02:13.

Additional games [Super Punch Out, Doom Coop, MVC2, PMEX Remix]

December 6th, 2024

Yeah, I played a few more games after the Ring Racers stint below this entry, but SPO I wanted to try again due to having rewatched a few SummoningSalt videos [made it up to Mad Clown...], while the other three games were with a friend that pulled up here and we, well, played those games. Doom was to try out the splitscreen feature of the new port as he had a controller [it worked well], and the other two were household classics to play here.

The Ring Racers custom sealed star of all time

December 6th, 2024

I'll let the video speak for itself.

Wow, Dynamite Cop kicks ass

December 5th, 2024

You should watch me kick ass at it as well.

But for real though, this is WAY easier to handle and play than Die Hard Arcade - more fun in some ways too while keeping a lot of the sillyness that made it stand out. Even that stupid Wolf Hongo returns as a cyborg.

Took the liberty to grind until I could beat at least the first mission of Survival Mode.

Hello again, AeroGauge

December 4th, 2024

At first I thought I was going to get a sudden great GP run with Black Lightning in Expert after getting first in the first two tracks...and then Chinadown broke down my machine [literally, ran out of health], screwed up in Neo Arena but got 6th [barely to continue] and then ended last in Chinatown Jam but at least I saw the credits despite my final GP points being 4th AND the game not giving any unlock for the run as a result...yeah, now I remember why I had beat it in Expert with Reaper [fantastic machine with boost cancelling to control the heat] and Avenger [like Black Lightning but with better handling] while the best I had done with Black Lightning was clearing the GP but in Intermediate.

Chinatown and Chinatown Jam are massive walls for this less nimble machine in Expert because THE TRACK IS FULL OF 90 DEGREE TURNS WITH OCCASIONAL FOG DRAW DISTANCE so you have to both memorize AND figure out a way to how to even do those bunch of turns without losing to the suspiciously perfectly driving AI at that speed.

I finally played Black Mesa for the first time after a months-old request by the fella that let me borrow it on Steam

December 3rd, 2024

47 mins of the single player from the start or so, and half an hour on a surprisingly populated multiplayer server. Yeah, this is gonna be peak.

Vectorman's S-Rank Quest in Master Mode Ring Racers - Emerald Cup done

December 2nd, 2024

Wahoo - that's the first seven cups [+ Super and Egg which I had done previously] done in Master Mode with the S-Rank. If I were to only count Page 1 cups at the moment, that's only five cups left to S-Rank before the year ends.

Casual 2P Mario Kart DS before the storm

December 2nd, 2024

Got my brother to play 3 cups on MKDS with me as I recently discovered there had been an update for MelonDS back in the end of November, which among other things seemed to have done the local multiplayer way more stable, so of course I had to try it out again. Gonna have to pull up Contra 4 another day to see if it is realiable now, as that game was one that in 0.9.5 did get to the first stage A FEW times but could still die on the way through [if not freezing or disconnecting during the loading screen], but was fun in any case.

Well, now what should I play next? Master S-Rank Ring Racers or more 3-Star Mario Kart DS cups? Hmm...

Trying out Mario Forever Community Edition

December 2nd, 2024

Works as advertised [aside from having to use --rendering-driver opengl3 because my GPU doesn't do Vulkan] and works better than Mario Forever Remake which I remember wanting to try for MF last year or so but for some reason had some very strange framerate issues [probably the old Clickteam Engine doing a funny because both the original and MFR run with it].

Was caught by surprise with the little sequence after defeating Bowser at World 1 [had only played the first two worlds in the SNES version for refrence] to the point I wonder if that was added by the Community Edition or was always there in the original MF...anyways, I liked it a lot with the little details, smooth feeling, Mario Minix being a bit more entertaining than I expected [Mario Bros. on GBA vibes], and I think I had read in the Tweaks menu that you could toggle a few things like adjusted bonus levels - so it seems that by default there's probably some oddities from the original game being patched here.

What I wonder is how there were times from August in the Mario Minix leaderboard when the game dropped four days ago publicly lol - perhaps private testers or people in the Discord playing a public betatest? I dunno...

Anyways, again, recommended and works like a charm in modern computers as it is made from the ground up with Godot [no excuses saying it would run poorly or that its full of virus lol] - you can get that right here in the offficial Release trailer.

Terraria with the homies at night

December 1st, 2024

Was nearly an hour long session for me instead of more because I had to hop off earlier to not stay up too late, but it was nice to play with three to four of the fellas I haven't been able to see in a while just goofing around online in Terraria - although I was the one goofing around the most as the one with less knowledge about how to make the most out of stuff you find in that game lol

Start of Luigi's Quest for 3-Star Ranks in Mario Kart DS

December 1st, 2024

Simple as. Was playing earlier some Mario Kart Wii Deluxe to test it on my Wii and then hours later I thought that I hadn't come back to MKDS in a while.

Long story short, did two cups in 100cc and one in 150cc - you can see those cups I did in the playlist here which has the runs listed and uploaded, but should also be updated later when more cups are done.
