Had a little party with my family to celebrate my recent graduation, and the two homies that had a chance to pull up pulled up - ended up playing for a good while with the first one that appeared a very silly game...Dragon Ball GT Final Bout.
He told me he often used to remember it as a kid and then revisit it to find out it was crappy..and this time not only he was once again reminded, but I also actually experienced it first hand when the movement is super stiff and hitstun can lead to very stupid things. Oh well, at least afterwards we ended up playing some 2P Bishi Bashi Special for some minutes.
Then the two homies started playing PMEX Remix for a while as I was running some errands for the reunion, and then eventually had a few matches...even though for logistical issues with one of the controllers, I ended up instead playing with my phone as a gamepad [don't].
Several minutes later after some setup and the second friend having to go early but letting me borrow his GC controller for the night, I was able to sit down for...who knows, maybe an hour[?] with the guy that stayed in Naruto Super Clash of Ninja 4 - A lot of very close fights [and one where I happened to come back with virtually no health with an insane clutch super landing] and a lot of fun even if the final FT10 ended up 9-10 at his favor [I choked the last match with Jiraiya...] but really fun stuff. Unfortunately there isn't a recording of these - kinda ironic how I seem to perform the best when there's no way to actually record the games...
Capping off the night right now with some Timesplitters Future Perfect, playing some of the Arcade League challenges in Single Player to unwind from a long but very lively day.
Beginner mistake of me to return to it without somehow remembering that the last time I had spent several games there, I had got up frustrated enough to decide that I had to hop off it for a good while [y'know...slap a ranking system to RR games and suddenly getting omegaclipped at the last second is more grating than funny]...but I did return to it some days before as I was finally able to try it again with fiber ethernet. After being fooled into a fake sense of safety from my first new mogi match being a 4v4 with a stacked team on my side [both sides were stacked tho but still] and the day before having an okay-ish[?] practice mogi round with Ring Racers Noire [they sometimes test settings with it]...the RR mogi I had this day was rife with so much shin kicking and getting to see a whopping -100 MMR slapped next to my name because I ended up dead last in points that it kinda ruined my mood for the rest of the day lol
So I ended up coming to the conclusion that it wasn't just the mogi but more so probably just scouting over the trillion Discord servers I have too much to the point that irked me, which made me decide to hop off the main acc for a while to cool off and...well, try to work on more creative stuff when my usual routine should be way less clouded that way.
Is this entry still about Ring Racers mogi? The folks there are cool though and some players there definitely are standouts in skill on the server so it's not that they are inherently mean - its just me happening to feel inadequate with pairing the volatile nature of Ring Racers gameplay to the usual ranked system that can make you eat a pillow with tomato sauce the very milisecond you get the nastiest streak of Ls ever...it's kinda funny how that hits harder than usual mishaps in GP Master mode for me [...most of the time].
Yeah, some folks on a server I am at were playing RR in the morning so I played that, then I played COLLAPSE [Super Collapse 4] again after like...I don't know, two or three months since the last time I did - can watch that here, and just now as of writing this, finished a practice session in the Ring Racers Mogi server testing RR Noire settings. I even got a clip of a REALLY funny moment from Green Hills where I got hit with a Drop Target near the end of the race and got punted mach speed into the finish line by accident lmao [peep the clip here - will reupload somewhere else for higher quality at some point]
Today was graduation day - and after a loooong day because of it, I did some TETR.IO 40L runs. Ended up improving frmo an old 1:07 to a low 1:04 time, hooray. I also played a single session of Ring Racers mogi, the first one I do after months, and was a 4v4 so I got a bit carried by my teammates, although there were at least two or three races where I did well enough, and one race where all four of the team [me and the other three] finished in top 4 out of 8. Nice stuff.
That's it, that's the entry. Played like four or five levels and was nice to feel the game I had played many years ago as one of those few original NDS games I had on my collection [and also remembering vividly how I completed the game on a long trip] - when will I follow up with a full run through it, I don't know, but it would be nice when it has been so long that the game is pretty much fresh for me, while at the same time having that more compact feel that isn't in NSMBWii as it was designed to accomodate for four players.
