Another one of these talking about plans that may or may not happen

The TL;DR for the one or two that are reading this

Because I know that if there's two or three reading this in the first place, then either only one or none at all will bother reading the entire thing I'm writing for myself dumping out all the thoughts about what I'm doing here - so for convenience, below is a summary of all the things I end up writing about to catch up with this post's topic:

  • Post's motive: Started writing all of this [and touching up the website a bit] because I'm feeling disatisfied with social media and the feeling that everything I want to share about HAS to rake up numbers by focusing on someting specific or else gets ignored
  • Site's vision?: I'm often unsure about what exactly I want to do with the website vision-wise, so that's why updates are sporadic and website structure isn't set in stone yet. Usually what I make here is what I feel like I want to do at the moment.
  • Site's current theme: Current theme which I overhauled the site [again] with is essentially the first theme I used for this Neocities [made with SADGRL's layout maker], only with a new color scheme inspired by the later designs I used. Wanted something simple and flexible to an extent but still had that old-school website feel.
  • Reason of the new site overhaul: Because I was once again disastified with the previous V2 design and feeling it wasn't flexible or stylish enough for what I wanted.
  • Virtual-On featured early on: Predictably, the banner and Game Zones page being mainly Virtual-On early on comes from that being my interest [bordering hyperfixation] at that moment. Currently I've been playing the Megaman Zero games, so who knows if someting related [Game Zones or just a post] might happen sooner or later.
  • Will stuff in older versions of site return?: Still to be decided and planned whether I'll bring back a lot of stuff that was made in the V1/V2 versions of website [V1's Memory Card and game pages + Ring Racers's stuff, V2's Game Area and the posts no one read]. Don't have an active need to bring them back but would be a shame that everything got discarded or stuck in a deprecated version of the site.
  • Will Ring Racers stuff come back?: Probably, but not a latent priority. I haven't been as active in the game the past few months [the way social media treats it basically being two extremes of loving or hating it without any middle spot doesn't help], so haven't done many runs or custom content, although that probably comes with having played it endlessly for a whole year before 2.4.
  • Any particular things you want to add recently?: The posts page where you found this is for anytime I want to write about stuff outside of specific formatting [so for example, if I ever plan to write about MMZ but not in the Game Zones format]. That aside, with this fresh slate, could be doable to make a proper "Quick Index" page just listing all the pages available in a simple format, aside from having to update it manually every time.
  • Is reach a concern for these plans?: Well, whatever I make here on a day, I know that anyone curious to run into this site will find and read if they feel like it - if I do end up continuing to use social media, I could also link them there even if they don't go anywhere [I write the stuff I want to talk about often for myself, go figure]. Besides...
  • Where do I get to comment to me about this site?: Be my guest and write on the book- *pfft*- okay, the Guestbook is right there for that. If you have a Neocities account, you can also react and comment on my Neocities profile. If you run into this site from somewhere else, I guess you could also comment in whatever site you found this at.
  • To end, how are you feeling?: I'm alive, I guess. Perhaps disappointed enough with the routine and the feeling of having to always appease to an invisible algorithm and gimmick I might have been known for to have any sort of reach - might have figured out that much when you see me write THIS much on the Neocities again.

alright that's a wrap, thanks for reading all of this - if you don't want to subject yourself to an even longer version of this, you can now head back where you came from

...Are you sure?

...I hope you're sure enough that you're okay with reading a lot from here onwards.

You've read the title, you know what to expect

Anytime I end up deciding to finally start working on some stuff for the website again, it comes with one of these- often because said decision to do so comes from thoughts pondering about my current state.

Such as the question of how "social" the social media websites really are if you haven't amassed a big following yet (although even that includes its risks, which at this point you might be familiar with if you've seen any parasocial user get too angry at someone for something trivial).

At the end, the purpose of a personal website is up to the author - is it meant to be a hub or showcase of your past and present projects? Is it meant to be a place for showing your favorite stuff? Is it a place to simply put your thoughts about stuff, regardless of whether they will ever reach anyone or not? You might have caught on at some point during the whole lifespan of this website in neocities that, often, I don't have a super clear vision of what I want this website to be, or if there is one, it ends up stagnated or even altogether scrapped and redone from scratch.

For starters, the theme you see in the website right now, if you haven't been following it from before, is the the third time I redo the website to use a different theme - which ironically happens to be the first design I used for this Neocities page when I first made: Something made with SADGRL's Layout Maker, simple but still has the old school feel, with enough to be somewhat flexible depending of what I want to show on the page, while at the same time being easy to maintain and modify [more so with a little tweak of mine that is having the navbar be a dedicated page embed so that I can update it and will be updated everywhere], only that this time it's using a color scheme [dark green/blue and orange highlights] inspired by the two themes I used [and modified to use said colors] to replace that initial version.

The older V1 and V2 websites that are linked at the start, despite how much time I dedicated both of them to have a decent amount of pages with content [with the word "content" being part of the question about what exactly is desired in it] are very much a byproduct of this frequent back and forth in what ends up being good to work with or satisfying to complete, ending up abandoned and now present as artifacts of what was previously my vision that changed due to hang ups with the way they worked [I feel like I overcomplicated the page structure in V1 plus it being weird to see in mobile devices, and then V2 on top of going too far the other way and being somewhat too simple for my tastes later on, had the tab navbar that would be annoying to edit in every single page if I wanted to make changes of it].

Those two V1 and V2 websites aren't even the oldest attempts of a website from me, just are the ones that are still with remnants in this Neocities domain. There's at least three older attempts at a website in different spots [a first attempt using Wix that got abandoned many years ago, one attempt in January 2023 using Github Pages, and one November 2023 in Neocities using the SADGRL layout like this current one but with a less edited color scheme that got overwritten by the V1 design in 2024.

On the note of the "why" of this website, I would consider that it kind of exists for being the place to express *whatever* I want to slap on a page, more so without having to worry about organizing with Wordpress [nor having to live with that the Wordpress site slips ads between some paragraphs without an adblocker and I can't change that without a fee] or the curse about getting to see numbers that end up being inevitably low unless they happen to be a super specific interest that happens to have an audience out there (my Sonic 1 and 2 videos in Youtube and the WMMT3 setup guide in my Wordpress blog are such examples of stuff that didn't have a reason to blow up but did, making everything before or after pale in comparison).

...Which brings me to how most of the early work in this new overhaul was inspired by my revisit of Virtual-On games - if you are familiar with them, you'll notice the Temjin as the site's header banner, and if you were around here before, you probably saw that the first stuff I started adding for this new version of the page was stuff dedicated to Virtual-On games. Felt like information I had to get out of my system into somewhere safe that wasn't to be forgotten by me [those being niche enough to not be seen by others is a given, so I skipped the idea of putting them in the Wordpress blog I don't frequently use anymore].

Like, you might see how being hyperfixated (again, temporarily) about a game as forgotten and even disliked by some as Virtual-On MARZ would lead to me deciding that, against whatever the world cares, pouring hours into that game and then a few more writing about all the interesting stuff I found about it, mostly being about my No-Heal challenge run but also adding other things such as my runs on that game, some tricks, and even things only accessible through cheat codes. Who the hell cares if there's barely any people out there that care about Virtual-On (outside of Japan, but that's also a given with how they actually got a re-release of the first three games in PS4), I WILL write about the stuff I want to write about, and that's all there is to this website. For how fruitless it might seem at times, it certainly feels more rewarding at the moment to put whatever I want here rather than having to shape it into "streamlined content" that might not appeal to people out there anyways. Besides the Virtual-On Boss Analysis videos - those were also for me but at least there's a handful of watchers that found those interesting.

And also a quick shoutout to ytpdomo711 who happened to run into my website because I added the Virtual-On stuff. I'm still surprised you somehow found that, but glad that you liked it :]

Anyhow, an issue about deciding to make a new blank slate and work everything out again from there is that, if there's a lot of progress you already had done before in another format, then the question comes about whether it is worth putting the effort of bringing it all over to the new slate or to instead cut some corners and leave them be memories at the moment. This can apply to many forms of projects, but for this website, I'm referring about the amount of pages that I had done both in the V1 and V2 versions of it that are now stuck in those now unmaintained pages.

Some of the stuff on those older versions I'm either fond of (a lot of it in the V1 version of the site, such as the old Memory Card section acting as a per-day or per-week summary of games I tried out that end up being nostalgic in retrospective, the new Memory Card section that also had some game-specific quips and videos dedicated to them paired with their own icons, and even the projects page where I had listed a lot of my OOOOLD stuff like MUGEN lifebars and F-Zero X custom tracks) or arguably would still work out for me if I brought them back (the Ring Racers pages), but with the amount of stuff stuck, including having to discern what isn't to be given priority in this process, and then having to keep testing that the stuff looks proper when transferred to this theme, is something that I can't promise on lightly. So, consider that maybe one day I COULD bring some old stuff back, but no promises on that, not just with the track record I have that sometimes I end up dropping out of certain ideas but also because a few pages alone could take a good while to readjust to this current theme.

And on THAT mention of Ring Racers stuff...quoting from my quick summary of this section about whether the Ring Racers stuff in the previous versions of the site will return, "Probably, but not a latent priority. I haven't been as active in the game the past few months [the way social media treats it basically being two extremes of loving or hating it without any middle spot doesn't help], so haven't done many runs or custom content, although that probably comes with having played it endlessly for a whole year before 2.4." There's a handful of things to address in there, although if you're still reading up to this point rather than leaving after reading the quick summary, then I have to assume that you are more than ready to stay seated for the whole spiel on this one.

Perhaps because I already played too much of it back in 2024 and half of 2025 [more so Master and Grandmaster runs], the 2.4 release candidates and full release getting me back into action for a while but then noticing it didn't quite move the needle to bring a lot of people [although considering the niche it already sticks to, it isn't surprising - and it is an update geared towards most players that already stuck to the game for the love of it anyways], and probably getting more jaded regarding trying to spread the word about Ring Racers [nowadays its usually only mentioned for Crossworlds slander or glaze, more so now with the whole Ring Engine addition] feels like trying to swim up a waterfall with how there's already many predisposed against the game [some within fair rights due to the game's nature, some because it strays too far from their beloved SRB2K, but some still swear about that damn 2.0 launch tutorial that was long reworked] to the point that it doesn't feel like its worth it.

Although my interest ON MY OWN has also been on the decline between creative stagnation [haven't finished a new track in a while, and the last Ring Racers montage was also kind of out of obligation of using the clips I had amassed from the 2.4 RC cycle], Master S-Ranks being far more difficult to get [so I don't grind for them as I used to] and just getting carried away with other games frequently as I've wanted to be more than just the Ring Racers guy, you konw? Too bad that striking a niche outside of that for me seems to be like playing the lottery, but that's besides the point - been trying more games instead so of course Ring Racers naturally doesn't get the same time in the limelight as when I used to fiend it almost daily out of love and curiosity for the game [even when that came with a lot of rage dealing with Master and Grandmaster lol].

Now, copying something I wrote about on the quick summary, "the posts page where you found this is for anytime I want to write about stuff outside of specific formatting [so for example, if I ever plan to write about MMZ but not in the Game Zones format]. That aside, with this fresh slate, could be doable to make a proper "Quick Index" page just listing all the pages available in a simple format, aside from having to update it manually every time." Both are kind of self explanatory without much elaboration.

At the end of the day, everything I write and work with here is for myself, mainly in the sense that this is the stuff that I want to present in the case someone runs into this place or is curious enough to look into it if I do happen to link these posts somewhere in other places, even if they end up ignored by the majority if not everyone that sees the post [juuuust the usual with social media if it isn't the same carrot dangling about a familiar topic, which I'm not to blame *everyone* about either, that's just how social media naturally works with appealing to a group of people interested in a certain thing, but I probably feel like I get no space for sincerity if I have to cherry pick the interests and things I talk about]. Getting any of these thoughts out at such a scale is already somewhat of a relief for me knowing that I won't vanish one day in the future [although you never know when that is] with these thoughts leaving with me forever unwritten on something that might reach others in the future, as trivial or as super specific as that might be. It is one piece of evidence that I lived here after all...assuming that Neocities hopefully doesn't end up suffering a catastrophe of any sort many years later [I'm periodically making backups of this site anyways anytime I decide to work on it and overhaul stuff just to know I can find anything old I delete later].

For how I might try to present myself sometimes [and for how obsessive I sometimes get with certain challenges or games or details abou them], I'm a human being, with all that brings. Including the feeling of dread that sometimes the candle of time is burning out without anything significant done with it.

Once again, taking what I wrote for the quick summary of all of this: "I'm alive, I guess. Perhaps disappointed enough with the routine and the feeling of having to always appease to an invisible algorithm and gimmick I might have been known for to have any sort of reach - might have figured out that much when you see me write THIS much on the Neocities again." And sure is a disappointment from routine that led me to want to pour all these thoughts into this single HTML file or page or however you see it.

If, for any reason, you want to communicate something to me about the website, thoughts about it or even about this post, there's a Guestbook with there. Be my guest and write on the bo- I ALREADY DID THIS JOKE ON THE SUMMARY WHY DO I STILL WANT TO DO IT AGAIN

Whatever day you read this at, I hope it finds you well. And that even includes me, if I do read this again in the future, hopefully well too...which gets me thinking that I sometimes still think about that part of bringing back old stuff I wrote in previous site versions because that WAS also me, a version that is no longer here but stil had his passionate feelings about things to like, arguably more passionate than my current self because I had a lot more things to be driven with [and be concerned - dealing with university and an online gig at the same time for example].

Thanks for reading, and see you next time.
