[1971 ANIME] GOLGO 13 SELECTION OPENING 0:37
If you didn't know that the mangaka Takao Saito (rest in peace) had written a James Bond manga before creating Golgo 13, then you might only have felt that this definitely one was definitely done with James Bond vibes- as with the early chapters of the manga as well. Might not be what you expected for sure, but certainly interesting that this is literally, at least for what I know, the oldest piece of music dedicated to G13...because its from the oldest anime adaptation made of the manga ever. Calling it anime might be debatable today as it feels more like a motion comic due to limitations, but I'd definitely need to see how I even watch those with subtitles to be able to say a bit more about how I feel about that old adaptation- aside from how some cuts to Golgo's expressions make me laugh. That and how there was one or two episodes that were also seen in the 2008 anime. So at least for that I had to add it on this slim list.
[THE PROFESSIONAL] ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK 0:00
I might expand this later, but for now, here's the playlist of the entire soundtrack...until Track 11. The other ones are for some reason uploaded under The Professional's OST but are actually from Queen Bee and the 2008 anime respectively. I SAY PRAY FOR YOUUUU[ARCADE] GOLGO 13 OST MEDLEY 23:24
The link goes to an unofficial medley by Bass Boosted Retro Game Music of most of the short tunes between all three Namco Arcade games. The original games used these songs either for the brief mission intermissions or the results whenever a mission ended, so I thought it would be neat to share something that mixes most of that into one single listening session.
If you are interested in listening to the individual soundtrack of each, there will be a link for the first two games- as the third one doesn't seem to have a full soundtrack rip floating in YT or khinsider yet.[QUEEN BEE] Turquoise Blue / Dead or Alive 9:06
While oddly enough most uploads of the two Queen Bee songs are sticked together, at the same time I see it with a sliver of sense- both songs are variants of each other's melody, only that the instrumentation, key, vocals and language are different, and they are used for the Opening and Ending of the movie respectively. A more chill and yet still as stylish tune to start and end Golgo's last movie as well as his last appearance in animation until 10 years later.
I still haven't watched Queen Bee, so I don't know what else to tell you about this.[2008 ANIME - 1ST OP] Take the Wave by Naifu 4:14
TAKE THE WAVE, EGAI TA, YUME WO- oh wait.
The song that kicks off the relatively unknown 2008 anime, being the only straight adaptation of many chapters of the manga...and yet it is still very little to cover the whole manga's history, as while each episode is a single manga chapter, there's way, WAY more out there. But going back to the actual song itself, I can get how it might be kinda dissonant to the jazzy vibes everything before this adaptation had for Mr. Togo, but I can't get mad at having a rock opening like this opening 25 of this master sniper's schemes. Interestingly, kinda like the anime itself, Naifu doesn't seem to have much info outside of Japan...although the Wikipedia page seems to detail that they didn't even get to make that much in the first place if it is accurate. Some sources say it was formed in 2005, others in 2007, but all point to the band parting ways in 2009...one year after they made this song.
...Well, at least they left us with this little gem that was used to open such a legendary manga adaptation in Japan...even if both are virtually unknown unless you happened to research it.
Admit it, whatever brought you to reading this or checking this little page was either because you were looking up Golgo 13 stuff or I somehow convinced you to check this out. But anyways...KAZE NI FUKARETEEEEEEEEEE OHHH FUKARETEEEEEEEEEEE-cough[2008 ANIME - 1ST ED] Glass Highway by doa 4:19
I'll admit that I didn't have much thoughts about this ending song when I heard it for the first time- being a more chill contrast to the opening and whatever the anime episode had...but hey, having a more recognizable artist like doa for it [although I only know them right now because of their Eiyuu/Hero song I heard in some AMVs] is pretty nice. And I'm sure this is in someone's chill Japanese rock playlist out there.PLACEHOLDER0:00
[2008 ANIME - 2ND OP] So faraway by PINC INC3:09
Title: So far away
Year: 2008
The second opening used for Golgo 13's anime, starting from Episode 26 which marks the midway point of the 50-episode anime adaptation. The female vocals kick in for an even stronger anime opening vibe, but you still can't help but bop your head to the rock and the chorus going SO FAR AWAYYYYY- I'll admit that something about that part in particular makes me feel a vibe of nostalgia or even longing for the future...although that latter bit might be too because I used to listen to this a month ago under moments with a fair bit of pressure- that longing being to finally get over that.
If you wonder why the link goes to a Nicovideo URL instead of Youtube, there's only low quality uploads of the TV Size version in the site...and while TVTropes had a link to a Youtube upload, said upload is shown to have been struck down with copyright, so yeah. There's also a Soundcloud upload under the name Golgo 13 Opening 2 - So Far Away, so if you'd prefer to listen it through that or at least save it in your favs, then have at you.PLACEHOLDER 0:00

[PACHISLOT GOLGO 13] Kurayami no Sniper by SANKYO4:36
Title: 暗闇のスナイパー / Kurayami no Sniper
Translates to "Sniper in the Darkness".
Year: 2017
I found this song by complete accident while I was looking for Golgo 13 media, be it serious videos or funny commercials, and I was surprised...and then a bit less than amused to see that it was for a pachinko- although it might as well a franchise that can be squeezed for something like that and wouldn't cause internaitonal turmoil unlike when Konami made that MGS3 Pachinko machine.
Definitely not the kind of vibe you would expect for a hardened character like this, specially if you had been listening to everything that came before this...but it is kind of fun to hear this more energetic anime hero type of theme for someone that definitely isn't...but screw it, the machine's ready to throw sensory overload at you when you hit a jackpot- a theme like this is the less offensive of the whole deal. And more so when its actually out there in an official upload.[PACHISLOT GOLGO 13] Kodoku no Sogekishu by SANKYO3:34
Title: 孤独の狙撃手 / Kodoku no Sogekishu
Translates to "The Solitary Sniper".
Year: 2017
Same as above, both in the accidental find and how it is a very different vibe, but at least I can see this one being much more fitting even when its still not in the jazzy/James Bond vibe of professionalism this character exudes...it actually reminds me of how Take the Wave was with awesome rock to prelude the history of an extremely precise "businessman".
Adding a bit more to this, most direct translations of that particular word Kodoku tend to go to "Loneliness", but I decided to use "Solitary" since while I get that "The Lonely Sniper" wouldn't be inaccurate for Golgo 13, "solitary" feels like it has a more of a "lone wolf" ring to it that is exactly what this character embodies. Just ask anyone that has tried to approach him with good intentions and has died for one or another reason.[BONUS] THE PROFESSIONAL: Pray for You cover by Geek Music 4:03
I SAY PRAY FOR YOUUUU PRAY FOR YOU
Because I had to highlight the only cover there is out there of that one awesome song, and its in English as well.
